Product Overview
-
Kid Pilot seats are designed for use on mountain bikes, and rely on active participation by children above the age of 2 years, not babies. Active participation by the child helps develop core bike riding skills such as leaning, balancing and turning. The centre positioning of the kid pilot seat also allows rear suspension to activate unhindered, and the weight of the passenger in the centre of the bike adds improved stability and control for off-road use.
- Designed for use on 26, 27.5 and 29 inch wheel bicycles only.
- Using a Kid Pilot seat will reduce the manoeuvrability of your bicycle.
- Not suitable for children under 2 years of age or children that are not able to sit unaided for the length of the intended cycle journey.
- The Kid Pilot Seat has a weight limit of 25kg
- Not for racing, stunts, jumps, drop-offs or advanced trails.
- Small parts may be present during assembly. Adult assembly required.
- Never leave your bicycle parked with a child in the seat unattended.
- Read all fitting and safety information before use.
Safety Instructions
-
Before using a Kid Pilot seat, read through the following checklist. This checklist is also included with every Kid Pilot seat sold.
1. Follow the fitting instructions
Incorrect fitting can increase the risk of accident, injury or death, or damage to the frame of your bike. Follow the fitting instructions supplied with your Kid Pilot seat, and contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding the suitability of the Kid Pilot seat for your bike.
2. Check your bike
Check your bike before fitting the Kid Pilot seat, including brakes, tyres and other components. If your bike is not in sound mechanical condition, do not use the Kid Pilot seat. Ensure that there are no sharp objects which the child can touch whilst using the Kid Pilot seat.
3. Wear an approved helmet
For safety, the rider and the passenger must wear standards approved bicycle helmets at all times.
4. Wear closed shoes and appropriate clothing
The passenger must wear enclosed shoes at all times, and keep hands, feet and clothes away from all moving parts to minimise risk of accident, injury or death. Children need to be more warmly clothed than riders of cycles and should be protected from the rain.
5. Use both hands
The rider and passenger must each hold onto the handlebars with both hands at all times. Failure to do so increases the risk of accident, injury or death.
6. Ride with care
Your bike may ride and respond differently with a passenger on it, particularly with regard to balance, steering and braking. The movability of your handlebar may also be reduced by the use of the kid Pilot seat. Ride carefully at all times and ride well within your ability.
7. Stay safe
Do not use the Kid Pilot seat if any part is broken. Check the security of fasteners frequently. Re-check from time to time that the child's weight and size do not exceed the maximum limit.
8. Be careful
The Kid Pilot seat is not for racing, or for use with jumps, drop-offs, stunts or advanced trails. The Kid Pilot seat has no restraint, and does not claim to protect your passenger any more than your own bike seat protects you. Ride slowly and carefully to minimise the risks and maximise enjoyment.
